My Husband and I are originally from Nova Scotia and had seen you play many times in the 70's and 80's so we were delighted to have been given ticket's to your sold out concert at festival Place Sept. 5th. in Shearwood Park. You and your band were awesome. You sound better now than you did all those years ago. I actually cried when you sang Rita's song...so beautifully done... Keep rocking Matt!!! Please play again in the Edmonton area....from listening to the crowd you made quite afew new fans! All the best to you!

Working Man
Comments:
Here's hoping for the best and I will keep it short......I recently met an amazing lady; Natalie, is her name. She loves music, especially songs which speak to life and all it's triumphs and tragedies. Music which expresses the heart of "The Working Man"/Woman. Music makes her smile the kind of smile that makes the world stand still for a man and believe that angels do walk among us. When I learned today that Matt is coming to Festival Place, Sherwood Park, Alberta on September 5th at 7:30 pm, I knew that would be the place to take Natalie for an amazing date; our third one to be exact . Matt's concert was the good news! The bad news: the show is sold out. Now I know that is not bad news for Matt, the band and fans who have tickets. That is actually good news for them, just bad news for myself who would like to have two tickets to take Natalie to the show. Can anyone tell me if a second show is planned for Sherwood Park? Does anyone have any tickets for September 5th which they would be willing to sell. Anyone? Just asking. If you do and cannot use them, I would appreciate hearing from you ( whtc50t@hotmail.com ). If you saw Natalie's smile, you'd know why I am writing here. Thanks for the songs, Matt, and to those who will be with you on September 5th at Festival Place in Sherwood Park, enjoy the show, the music and the magic.

Blessings to you,
Hal

Its been soooooooooo long since I seen Matt and the boys. I have fond memories of his gigs at the Pictou Tavern when Jerry Bent ran the show there. It's great to see after all these years that you're still Shoot Bang Poppin those rockin roll pills...keep up the great work Matt, and hey, there's plenty of Maritimers here in the Peg so if your ever through this way, book yourself a gig at the Palamino.....you'd bring the house down I'm sure.

I asked this question here about 6 years ago and a couple people responded to me. Does anyone go back 35+ years for Minglewood gigs? If so, does anyone remember the Dirty O (now St. Antonio's) and the wet t-shirt contest they had there in the summer of 1978 between Matt's sets?

My wife was in that contest and was the one (of the 4 contestants) who stripped to her panties and flashed the audience several times. To the best of my knowledge, this was the first ever wet t-shirt contest in the Halifax area.

She won the contest and the $100 first prize.

Does anyone remember that night more than 35 years ago? I remember there were lots of camera flashes going off during the contest....does anyone still have any pictures (prints or digital)? I have a couple pix, including one with the late, great Enver Sampson Jr. in the background watching the contest.

Please email me if you have any memories of that night or have any pics you could share.

Comments:
First time I heard the song "You're Not Drinking Enough" I knew I had to have the album!!! My husband and I were 1/2 way home from a very long day in town, and I got him to turn the car around and head back. Such is life, loved the song, wasn't willing to wait to have it in my very own music library!

I remember attending your performances at the Buccaneer Lounge in Port Hawkesbury, NS late 70's & The Misty Moon, Halifax, NS.
Minglewood Band, Buddy & The Boys, Sam Moon.... Great Cape Breton, NS music.. still listen to you all on CD's & Albums. Always stopped to see the guy at the Causeway who controlled the Bridge on our way there and back. We had to pay to cross the causeway back then.

First heard you in 1974 when I went to UNB in Fredericton. I always made it a point to see at least one of your shows any time you came to town after that. (I recall a memorable version of Patriot Game at a Saturday matinee at the Hilltop!).I still have a concert poster somewhere, too. Then , of course, I bought the album when it came out, and couldn't believe Stood Up got airplay around there in those days. You guys were one of the best bands I have EVER seen anywhere, and I've seen many. So I've been following your career and buying your albums and CDs ever since, but have only gotten to see you a couple times since I moved to Montreal in 1981 and those shows were long ago. You gotta come back to play somewhere around here.

Comments:
My name is Dean Dupuis and I've been harp player for many years with The Mud Boys in Ottawa, Ontario and thinking of family history I wanted to reach out to connect! Enver Sampson Jr was my mother's cousin....my second cousin. After all these years she, Marcella Dupuis, still speaks to Enver on a weekly basis and has shared her down home memories with me time and time again!

I would love an opportunity to see you guys play in Ottawa the next time you're in town so please keep us in the loop!

Hello!
I live in Serbia, Europe.
In 1989, when I was 15, first time I heard your music.
My country was then Yugoslavia, now called Serbia.
In our country was a strong music scene and we knew a lot about music from "the West".
It was a good old time! :)
I bought an audio tape in a store and I very liked your music.
I did not even understand all the words. :)
But the music was good as a dream ...
I imagined that, you look like John Wayne. :)
Me and The Boys - was song, and all my friends were together.
Recently, I remembered about the good old times and good music.
Who would have thought that, in Europe, in a small country, at the village someone loves your music.
I wish you all the best!
Best regards from Serbia!!!
Slobodan

Comments:
As a fellow Cape bretoner, living away most of my adult life. I have been a fan of Matt's since the 70's and have been to see him countless times, enjoy each and every show. My wife who is from Ontario has heard his recordings many times and hasn't been fortunate enough to take in a show yet. We are coming to Glace Bay to visit my family for Christmas this year and we will certainly be attending the News years eve gig in Membertou. Really looking forward to it.

Comments:
That song was hands down, one of the first pieces of music I ever came to really appreciate. I would play that over and over again on dad's stereo. i'm hoping to get Bails out for the first of August so we can come down and see you play. It's been way too long. hope all is well with everyon, cheers.
Eric.
