Comments:
Just cking your site out from Halifax HOG rally site, was looking for a way to get ahold of a "certain someone" that will be there. I just wanted to send him a message some how, I miss him so, but hope he's enjoying his "journey" and is finding what he's looking for {within himself) with his service days behind him (retiring from US Army) so, if there is the slightest chance someone out there can get a message to John Stegall please do for me, thank you so much and enjoy the concert and the Rally.....Nancy

Great to see Minglewood in Pictou again (the Carny Beer Garden is always so much fun!) - the place was a 'rockin'! I miss Billy, but never so much as when I am standing there listening to Minglewood and he's not there with us. Whoever Tug is from Scotsburn - thanks for remembering my sister Janice in your entry - she certainly loved Minglewood.

Thanks for a great show tonight on the waterfront under the beer tent in Pictou. The spirits of many were in the air tonight, Billy C. and Janice G, just to name a few old friends we miss, with some fond memories of Enver thrown in as well. Looking forward to seeing you again. A great way to celebrate the 75th Carnie!! You're sounding as great as you ever did! Safe travels wherever the road takes you!

Sorry to see that Matt is NOT going to make it to Stampede this year. Looks like I'll have to book Westjet in order to fly home to North Sydney to hear him. Keep rockin' boys!!

Yes, we sure rocked the ole Moon once upon a time. I'm thinking I was kinda mature by that time....wasn't I? Dunno; can't remember. Having to much fun I guess. But my best Minglewood memories was at the old Pictou Tavern. The days when Matt and the guys would come to town and ole Jerry Bent would pack the place and then lock the doors. There's be no getting in or out till the band stopped playin, which was usually after a 3 song encore, well into the early hours of the morning. Then we'd all head to Billys to party it up afterwards....yup, them good ole days. And your still going strong Matt....way ta go...they say some things get better with age. Hi to all the down homer musicians who put out some of the best music going...keep up the great work.

I was at the concert at the Rebecca Cohn auditorium last night (June 6th) and it was excellent!! Matt's/Roy's voice is stronger and better than ever, and the music rocked! When "Long Way From Texas" started, my friend and I had to hold ourselves back... made us want to go dancing in the aisles! We were hoping to hear "Stood Up," but realize that you have a lot of material and can't sing it all in one night. I have the red "Minglewood Band" album, and "The Best of... One Caper After Another" cd (used to have a cassette of another that I've misplaced over the years)... I still play your music regularly.

When will last night's show air on CBC radio?

Just wanted to say how impressed I was with your performance... keep on "Rockin' the Blues"... it suits you!! ;-)

Can't You See
Comments:
I just want to say that your concert last night at the Capital Theater in Oxford was GREAT. It is very unfortunate that more people did not come out to have the experience of hearing you.

Many years ago when I was a young thing (hehe) I first heard you at the Misty Moon in Halifax and have been a fan ever since.

We are wondering that if you should decide to come back to this area and do a similar show if you would consider coming to the Joggins Legion. We always have a good turn out for events and I am sure that you would draw a large one. Hope you we will keep us in mind.

Again thanks for coming to Oxford!!!

Can't you see (and now Kandahar)
Comments:
As a base brat of Cape Breton parents, I cut my teeth on Cape Breton music (including yours), CBLA posters (still have a couple), and getting home every chance I could. After 28 years in the military myself, I am one step closer to moving home.

Thanks for Kandahar, great song. I never made it over there but I know lots who have (and one who never made it home again - boomerslegacy.ca).

Thanks again for the years of great music and hope to catch a show this summer.

How cool is it to grow up on Minglewood music, sneak in a Minglewood show as a kid.....then years later, your band gets to open for Matt on June 26-09 in Miramichi, NB and Aug 8th in Saint John, NB!
To add to that....having your band name listed on Matt's website! Too cool!

Here's a walk down "Memory Lane". It's the late 1970's and there's a huge concert smack in the middle of a field. Thousands of people - all having a great time to the sounds of Minglewood, Sam Moon and many other very talented entertainers! It's TARBOT!! What a weekend!

I remember it was getting very late into the night, we were all tired and pretty mellow by then....when all of a sudden, the bands started playing a song.....with full moon rising in it...can't remember the name of the song. We all looked up and there it was, right behind the band....the full moon was arising!

The entire weekend was a blast. I especially enjoyed the after parties.
Our friend, the late Marcel Doucet was his natural comical self...ah the memories!

Let me take you back, waaaay back. I remember seeing The Minglewood Band play at an outdoor festival in Bear River, NS around '78 or '79. It was called the Bear River Indian Festival. I think I was about 14 or 15 yrs old at the time. Definitely a weekend to rememeber (or half rememeber). See ya in Amherst on the 29th of May.

I see you are going to be playing in Oxford NS this May 28/09, and I don't know if you are going to remember this, but back in Feb 1971, your band played at our Winter Carnival High School in Oxford, which was one of the best dances we ever had, packed house, with many schools there, and in the middle of the dance, the cadet corp of our school arrived from Moncton after winning all kinds of trophies and awards, and Mr McCleave had the boys march into the dance floor, and he got up on stage with you and proceed to announce what his cadet corp had won, and you were very much a gentlemen with him and saluted him. It was a class act and one that many people will never forget. You might want to mention this at your concert in Oxford, just to see if there is anyone there that might have been at that dance back in 1971. Keep rockin.
